Erica holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Wellness /Nutrition, is a certified massage therapist/Ayurvedic practitioner, holds certification in Thai Massage , is a 2,000 hour yoga teacher (The College of Purna Yoga) and has extensively  studied Acupuncture/Reflexology. Erica's work in the arts and entertainment includes performing, choreographing ,teaching, directing and producing.

 

DANCE 

Erica showcased her mastery of samba and Afro-Latin dance forms as an international Musa for G.R.E.S. Renascer de Jacarepagua at Rio Carnaval 2018/2019. She has  performed in “Echame La Culpa”/Lusi Fonsi and Demi Lovato,”Christmas Love/,NBCU at Radio City Music Hall, 3rd Place Winner Passista Brazil Day Newark, Maria Torres' Pasione (Yemaya soloist), Rio 2 World Premiere(Sergio Mendes/ Carlinhos Brown),Garota Yes Brasil 1st place winner, J.U.I.C.E. Erica has choreographed for the Gerardo Contino y Los Habaneros video/ Año Nuevo, Law and Order - SVU, Dancespora Ballet as a guest choreographer, Gabrielle Lansner's River Deep(assistant choreographer),the Brooklyn Philharmonic Youth Concert Series and Habana en Movimiento Festival(Cuba). Additionally, she choreographed a Tropicana style revue (two year run),exhibited excerpts of  ‘Ritmos/ Rhythms at the Adrienne Theatre(Philadelphia) and premiered a new works-in-progress, 'Rumba Mujer' at the Peggy Theatre(New York City).

YOGA/AYURVEDA/REFLEXOLOGY

Because  wellness and health are also an an art, Erica continued her studies of Ayurvedic applications while working as an Ayurvedic practitioner at Pratima Soho, NYC. As a noted Thai Yoga Massage practitioner, Erica provided Thai massage and Yoga services for feature films and actors including Sharon Stone, Bill Murray and Jeffrey Wright.

TEACHING

Erica has guest lectured or taught workshops at University of Pennsylvania, Temple University, George Mason University, LA County High School for the Arts(faculty), Boricua College (faculty), Cirque School LA, Santa Monica College and Long Island University Hospital.

SOCIAL BUSINESS AND ARTS

Erica’s  background and knowledge of Afro-Latin culture, dance and history and its lack of representation in  the American story , inspired her to create Arya Movement Project and SambaSalsa which focus on artistic and community events, entertainment productions and cultural travel options focused on the Afro-Latin and Caribbean Diaspora.  In 2020 ,Erica is set to open a non-profit arts, yoga and wellness center, World Arts East, in Red Hook, Brooklyn.
